What are the required hours for the pre-licensing program?
The state of Kansas does not require any pre-licensing courses. They are optional.

Where can I take the exam, and what is the cost?
The state provides four exam locations:

    1. Overland Park, KS
    2. Wichita, KS
    3. Topeka, KS
    4. Hays, KS

Note: Additional Locations are also available on the Pearson VUE Website. Go to the Pearson VUE Website  to schedule an appointment. The exam costs $54.00.


How do I file a license application and how much does it cost?
The license application costs $30. You can submit either through the mail or online.

How much is the renewal fee and how often do I have to renew?
Each resident agent must renew the license biennially.

There is NO cost to renew your license. If you are late to renew, the fee is $100.00

What are the required Continuing Education hours?
The agent must complete 12 continuing education (CE) hours before each renewal.  That must include at least one hour of instruction in insurance ethics. No more than three CE credits shall be in insurance agency management.
